New From Hinckley This Spring: A New Addition To The Runabout Line, The Talaria 34R

During long cold winters in Maine, this is what designers dream of:  languid curves, sun dancing off a perfectly fare hull, brilliant reflections in a custom handcrafted stainless windshield.  And it is just what the New Product Development team at Hinckley has penned for the new Talaria 34 Runabout–a riveting yacht that heralds a return to the golden age of Hinckley runabouts.

The boat is expected to make her debut this spring.

Inside the Talaria 34R’s sleek lines is a thoughtful layout designed for people at play.  There is racy helm and co-pilot seating, a conversational u-shaped settee and all the amenities for entertaining close at hand.  On the dash and at the helm there is room for an oversized display, classic gages, tilt steering and side vents for when things really heat up.  Visibility from the helm is unsurpassed.

Venture through the companionway on the 34R to stash belongings, take a rest room break or shower and change into dry clothes after a day of salty fun.  The interior offers headroom that’s surprising and enough space and seating to escape a summer storm. To finish the classic runabout, there is a long sunpad for two astern with a boarding door and walkway on centerline  for boarding convenience.  Should you have enough of the sun or the admiring looks, Hinckley has you covered:  press a button to raise the power bimini roof into place to shade the cockpit fully.

Like every boat in the Hinckley family, attention to detail does not stop at the jaw-dropping design.  The Talaria 34R is a true performance yacht with great handling characteristics and excellent seakeeping ability, thanks to a modern underbody configuration by Michael Peters.   The ride is dry and jet propulsion keeps operations smooth with dialed down decibel levels despite plentiful power from twin Yanmar 320s.  At wide open throttle expect 34 exhilarating knots with proportional  Jetstick II control that lets you handle this yacht with ease and confidence.  For the ultimate convenience, all the boat’s accessories are controlled via a touchpad.

Hinckley has built a full scale mock-up of the new Talaria 34R at the company’s Portsmouth, Rhode Island yard.  The mock up allows design engineers to get proportions and equipment placement exactly right.  The mock-up is also open to clients who wish to get a preview of the boat.

So that the adults don’t have all the fun, the Talaria 34R comes with an optional towing post for wakeboarding or tubing in style.
