Mr. Fitzpatrick Goes to Washington

Due to the success of a collaborative educational program, General Manager of Hinckley’s Maine Operations, Andy Fitzpatrick, was invited to Washington to lend his expertise at the White House’s UpSkilling Initiative.

Hinckley has made a difference in the community by partnering with Eastern Maine Community College and the Department of Labor to foster the next generation of boat builders. Hinckley’s commitment to quality craftsmanship starts with acquiring the most skilled workforce and there’s no better way to achieve that end than by cultivating homegrown talent. As the demand for detailed and meticulously constructed yachts grows, so does our need for experienced craftsmen that can live up to Hinckley’s high standards

EMCC, formerly known as Eastern Maine Vocation Technical School, has long been a source of talent in the neighborhood, but when the school received a grant for the DOL’s Employment and Training Administration to expand its course offerings, Hinckley stepped in as the local employer to connect the dots. The Fine Woodwork and Cabinet Making Concentration in the Building Construction Technology program was created and has become a feeder school for Hinckley.

This mutually beneficial collaboration creates jobs and encourages students to develop life-long skills that will serve them well in Maine’s time honored tradition of boat building. And the result is some of the most beautiful, well-crafted yachts on the market!
