Exceptional experiences
The completely reimagined layout features seamless flow from transom to helm, plentiful lounge space, a wet bar, and full sun coverage by SureShade. Digital switching allows you to easily transition the electronics from day mode to night mode at the touch of a button on the multifunction display. Dynamic steering adjusts the steering tension and controls lock-to-lock range as you change speed. And the highly advanced Jetstick 4® joystick allows easy navigation through tight turns and docking at tricky marinas, while its innovative Zero Draft design gives you the ability to easily navigate shallow water that other boats simply can’t maneuver in.

Advanced Technology
With over 25 years of experience infusing carbon fiber composite boats, no one in the industry knows more than Hinckley when it comes to this process. Over the past several years we’ve evolved this process to include all the best properties of post-cured epoxy. A digitally-controlled oven stretches over 80’ where each Hinckley hull is post-cured to ensure a strong, fair hull for life. This focus on advanced composite materials and dry-laid single bond epoxy infusion results in a yacht of tremendous strength, seaworthiness and beauty. No one takes more care to ensure your safety on the water. It’s this process that allows us to offer a Lifetime Hull warranty on the Picnic Boat 40.
The hull of the new Picnic Boat 40 was designed by top naval architect Michael Peters and is built in Maine. Hull construction combines an inner layer of carbon laid bow to stern with a companion outer layer of Kevlar for bulletproof puncture resistance.
The cloth is laid up dry into the mold, which allows fibers to be aligned to the computer-designed load paths. The structural grid is also dry laid up inside the hull mold, then everything is infused with epoxy at once to form a chemically bonded structure of incredible strength and durability. Our confidence in this approach is why we are unique among production and semi-custom builders in guaranteeing our hulls and decks for life.
This focus on advanced composite materials and dry-laid single bond epoxy infusion results in a yacht of tremendous strength, seaworthiness and beauty. Weight savings in the hull structure allow for the signature teak woodworking accents which are Hinckley hallmarks. The innovations in hull materials allow us to provide the luxury on deck and below deck, which our owners and their families love.
The Sound of Silence
Years of innovating, testing and tweaking led to our trademarked SilentJet—the optional hybrid upgrade found only on our iconic Picnic Boat 40. It combines diesel and electric power, and is an integral part of a control system that allows a completely seamless experience.
Created in collaboration with Twin Disc, SilentJet began development as a hybrid solution almost immediately after the 2017 launch of our all-electric Dasher. The innovation of marine hybrid propulsion was integrated into Hinckley’s JetStick 4® control system and features automatic, industry-first components.
Quiet propulsion and less time lost at the fueling dock make SilentJet the best way to spend time on the water. With SilentJet engaged, the Picnic Boat 40’s cruising speed is seven knots. Its range? One hour at seven knots, and up to 90 minutes at 5.5 knots. What’s more, the Picnic Boat 40 cruises at 35 knots (depending on load) under diesel power.
“With the SilentJet battery engaged, you glide away from the dock in total silence,” says Scott Bryant, Hinckley’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “After an hour or so, the diesel engine comes on automatically until the next time you anchor, and you won’t have to run your generator because the battery has already been charged and you can run everything on it. You also don’t have to manually charge the battery—the diesel engine will do it for you in just 30-45 minutes of running time.”
