Hinckley Yacht Services Expands in the Chesapeake with a New Yard in Annapolis
Annapolis, MD (September 26, 2018) — Hinckley Yacht Services today announced a major expansion in the Chesapeake Bay region with the opening of a new yard in Annapolis, Maryland. The expansion builds upon Hinckley’s existing Eastern Shore location in Oxford, Maryland with a location closer to the major metropolitan markets of Baltimore and Washington DC.
The new yard is located on 4 acres in a sheltered area of Whitehall Creek just north of Annapolis, Maryland and can store and service up to 200 boats. A depth of 12 feet accommodates yachts up to 50 feet in length. A 35-ton Marine Travelift and hydraulic trailer complement a first-rate team led by Charlie Petosa who has joined Hinckley Yacht Services to lead the yard. Charlie has extensive experience servicing high-end yachts as Chief Operating Officer for Northrop & Johnson Yachts-Ships, VP of Sales and Marketing for Ocean Marine Yacht Center, and as a board member of the United States Superyacht Association. Charlie also led West Marine’s expansion into the superyacht segment with West Marine Megayacht Supply.
Hinckley Yacht Services offers the highest standard of yacht care for owners of Hinckley Yachts and other premium brands in 9 locations along the US east coast. Affiliate partners on the west coast and in Europe complete a network that provides an unrivaled care experience. “As we celebrate our 90th anniversary this year, our yacht services business has been growing rapidly and owners continue to see real value in our craftsmanship and expertise”, said Peter O’Connell, Chief Executive Officer of The Hinckley Company. Hinckley’s investment in Annapolis this year follows large investments in climate-controlled storage in Southwest Harbor, Maine in 2017 and in Stuart, Florida earlier this year. Hinckley Yacht Services Stamford, Connecticut opened in late 2017 and is helping the company service new and existing customers in the New York metropolitan region. “We see our service offering resonating with customers who are looking for an experienced partner to maximize their most precious resource – time.” continued O’Connell. Hinckley owners enroll in Jetboat Service Packages which are total care programs providing the ultimate in piece of mind. These unique, turn-key service programs can qualify yachts for Hinckley Certified Pre-Owned status upon resale. The Hinckley Certified Pre-Owned program is the only program of its kind in the industry and the Hinckley CPO badge is now highly sought after among brokerage yacht buyers as a mark of distinction. Regardless of yacht brand, owners see Hinckley Yacht Services as the pinnacle in yacht care.
Hinckley Yacht Services has had significant growth nationally and in the Chesapeake region in recent years. “More than half of our yacht care business comes from customers who own brands other than Hinckley. From sportfish refits to outboard repowers, all customers benefit from our attention to detail, time-honored craftsmanship, and dedication to doing things the right way that has marked Hinckley’s 90 years of continuous operation” said Mike Arieta, Chief Operating Officer of The Hinckley Company. “We are very excited to further our presence on the Chesapeake Bay with the addition of our Annapolis yacht care center. We have an unparalleled level of customer care and some of the best technicians in the business. This yard is ideally positioned to support the increasing numbers of Hinckley Yachts in the region as well as the recent growth of our Hunt Coastal and Hinckley Sport Boat outboard brands. This location will also set a new standard of excellence for outboard service in the region,” continued Arieta.
