Hinckley Grows Its Southwest Harbor Yard Operation
Southwest Harbor, ME — The Hinckley Company broke ground August 16, 2017 on a new building at its flagship yard in Southwest Harbor, Maine. The 20,000 square foot building will offer expanded service capacity and is expected to create five new jobs. “We are adding service and storage capacity for about 35 boats,” said Yard Manager Tara Regan “which represents more than a 10% increase in storage capacity year over year.”
The new heated facility has been designed for energy conservation with radiant heat floors and high-efficiency lighting. The Bangor firm of Nickerson and O’Day will handle construction.
“We’re experiencing strong demand for service work, particularly in our Southwest Harbor location,” said Peter O’Connell, president and CEO of Hinckley. “Our customers get the pinnacle of high-touch, white glove service. Our Jetboat Service Packages, in particular, tune every aspect of the yacht so the customer can simply step aboard and go. These packages qualify a yacht for enhanced factory warranties upon sale, so the yachts serviced here and in our other yard locations are highly sought after in the secondary market as Certified Pre-Owned Hinckleys.”
Customer service has also been a strong driver of growth in the yard. “Satisfaction and customer retention have been Tara Regan’s top priority since she arrived here as manager of the Southwest and Northeast Harbor yards last November. Her efforts have been very effective.” said O’Connell. Regan oversees 85 employees and works on over 300 yachts.
Groundbreaking on the new building took place on August 16, 2017 and the building is slated to open in late November.
